Machine Wash Cold or warm, if any tougher stains. BlanketPalsTM should be washed regularly, no less than monthly, and using non-perfumed or baby detergents is highly recommended.  This is an easy way to avoid chemicals, including volatile organic compounds (VOC) often associated with synthetic fragrances.  This is especially important for younger children, including toddlers.

To find the best baby or non-perfumed detergents, search the internet for Consumer Reports reviews or other reputable organizations. If interested in having the best smelling blanket, consider hanging outside to dry after washing (weather permitting), avoiding too much direct sun exposure because of potential bleaching. Further avoid washing BlanketPalsTM in hot water because it degrades the fabric and reduces color vibrance over time.

BlanketPals are made with the highest quality fleece, so pilling is not an issue. Pilling are the little annoying tags associated with some fabrics, tags that cling to the fabric, that lessen comfort, warmth, and diminish the cozy fun. Most important, infants should NOT be placed in bed with a fleece blanket and bedding should be properly secured. Therefore, parents are urged to follow the advice of The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), as well as their pediatrician, insofar as appropriate bedding, sleep position, sleep surface, and sleep location. To this extent, parents and guardians are strongly advised against placing infants under 12 months with loose blankets, including fleece, in their bed or sleep environment. Bedding increases the risk of suffocation, entrapment, and overheating, all of which are linked to SIDS, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. Further, babies lack the motor skills to move away from obstructed airways, and fleece can easily cover the face or trap heat.
